Many restaurants in the Plateau are bring your own wine/apportez votre vin. Stop in one of the many SAC stores along St. Denis or St. Laurent to buy a bottle (or two!) before you go.

$Plateau
Omnivore Light Mediterranean fare made with fresh & local ingredients. Kaftas, salads, soups. Consistently incredibly delicious.
Aux Vivres Vegan & vegetarian food, really fresh & really well done. Nice outdoor patio in the back, fabulous smoothies & fresh juices. The dragon bowl is fantastic.
Salla Rosa Tapas, mussels, Spanish wine & beer. Casa Del Popolo's big sister, they host great shows & DJs in the hall upstairs.
Schwartz's A Montreal institution. Hebrew deli that makes the region's traditional smoked meat for 80+ years on the historical Main. There's always a line out the door.
La Banquise Yes, one must have poutine while in Québec. Owned by the same family since the late 1960s, they offer classic poutine & a large variety of more inventive takes on the traditional dish, all served up in a casual, busily funky atmosphere.

$Mile End/Outrement
Le Moineau/Sparrow We love this place for brunch, but the dinner menu looks equally enticing. Great decor & service, delicious, hearty fare.
Lawrence Comfortable & stylish decor, & fantastic fare that includes locally grown & house made deliciousness. Sunday brunch includes the best beignets (filled fritters) I've ever had, plus house made sausages. Favorite.
La Croissanterie Figaro Charming French Bistro-style cafe in art-deco surroundings. Outdoor cafe seating.
Petite Maison Chef Danny St. Pierre's charming little subterranean spot to eat fresh, seasonal & inventive dishes in a lovely setting. Delicious.

Laloux The real deal for French/Quebecois cuisine. Consistent & elegant.
La Prunelle French/Quebecois cuisine often using local ingredients, in a lovely, warm atmosphere. Another of our favorites.
Le P'Tit Plateau Tiny, warm & wonderful little resto. French style cuisine, very well done, often with local ingredients. A favorite.
Au Pied de Cochon Local meats & foie gras are the specialties. Artisanal poutine & Quebecois fare in a backwoods-chic atmosphere.


$Downtown

Labo Culinaire/Foodlab Stylish & delicious, they change up their menu to offer artfully made, locally sourced food with a tapas-style approach, so you can try a wide array of flavors Nice wine list & fabulous outdoor patio, too, all in the industrial-chic SAT building downtown. A favorite spot.
Omma Homestyle Korean cuisine in a sweet & casual setting. Yum! Go!!!

Le Club Chasse et Peche Holy moley. Fantastic, artistically approached offerings served in an elegant, chic atmosphere.
Toqué Creative, artistic presentation, & delicieux.

$$Little Burgundy 
Joe Beef A Montreal classic. Go very hungry. Consistently awesome. Vin Papillon, their wine bar with a more veggie-heavy menu, is just a couple of doors down. Check out Liverpool House, another of their spots, too!

$Sud-Ouest
Grumman '78 creative Mexican that started as a food truck (they still have a taco truck), now a resto in a happening part of town. Great menu, check it out here

Casa del Popolo Vegetarian fare, fair trade coffee, music venue that hosts some of the best small international acts, nightly DJ nights, burritos & art vending machine. Need I say more? Favorite.
Café Santropol Delicious sandwiches as big as your head, soup, fresh smoothies, house roasted coffee. They have a lovely outdoor patio in the back.
Café Névé Tiny & cozy with delicious coffee & light fare (sandwiches, salads, soups), including scrumptious baked good (really good muffins). Great warm-up/take a break spot. 

Mile End
Le Cagibi Fresh coffee, housemade pastries & lunch items. Funky, arty, intimate space to hear good local music. Great place to hang out. A favorite.
Dinette Triple Crown Delicious Southern comfort food in a nouveau-diner atmosphere. Fried chicken, pulled pork, mac 'n cheese, corn bread, mashed potatoes.
Le Falco Delish coffee & Japanese cuisine served up in a gorgeous industrial setting

Old Montreal

Olive & Gourmando Amazing sandwiches & baked goods, & delicious fresh coffee in an old-world-meets-modern market café atmosphere. Perfect breakfast or lunch stop.

Dispatch Great roasts, great espresso. We bring home some beans.
Café Pi Fair trade & organic coffee in an old-school café atmosphere with lots of neighborhood folks, & lots of chess.
Cafe Névé Great tucked away-ish spot with comfortably rustic & hip decor, delicious pastries & lovely coffee & espresso. Love.
Replika Good espresso & light & delicious fare.
Café Melbourne They pull a sweet espresso & have tasty small bites. Tiny outdoor patio on the street is a lovely little haven to duck into & soak up some sun with coffee.
Le Moineau Masqué Sweet & hip little spot with a lovely outdoor patio. Very nice espresso, & wonderful french pastries.
Café Nocturne Really nice espresso drinks and coffee. Love the cozy industrial-chic interior, and the world map on the wall. A favorite!

Vices&Versa 40 amazing beers on tap, many Canadian, all good. Lovely, lively outdoor beer garden.
Reservoir artisanal brasserie, house-brewed beers on tap & tasty small bites. Nice 2nd floor balcony seating.
Bíly Kün a little more casually schmance, & full of regulars & beautiful people. White Horse ales amongst other beers, wine, port, spirits. Jazz, DJs & soloclassical performers (Leider songs!) most evenings.

Chocolats de Chloe A neatly stocked little gem of a shop with a beautiful array of perfectly balanced chocolate truffles, as well as tablets, turtles, chocolate covered sponge toffee, praline-filled sardines, drinking chocolates, cocoa and pastilles, in delightfully colorful packaging. The balsamic fig truffles and banana truffles are favorites. And the pastis.  And the sponge toffee. Ok, all of them.
Chocolats Genevieve Grandbois Elegantly designed single- & dual-note chocolates, as well as fantastic terroir chocolates from top Criollo-growing regions in South America & Africa. Packaged in a chic reusable tin. Perfect gift.
